The Scout Section is for young people aged around 10 to 14 years old. You will build on your experiences in the young sections and undertake more challenging activities that will ultimately give you greater enjoyment and help you find the things in life that you love.
Scouts wear a green shirt, which proudly displays all the badges they have earnt. Scouts enjoying pushing the boundaries, stepping out of their comfort zone and doing the things they never thought possible.
Our Scout meetings are fun and interactive; we focus on developing new skills, knowledge and confidence, with age appropriate activities, such as mini hikes, water activity days, crafts, experiments, camps and many more exciting things.
Badges
Scouts also have a greater say in what they do each week as well as the badges that they want to do
These include:
- Scout Activity Badges – There is a badge for almost any activity and interest you could possibly think of. There are over 70 activity badges open to Scouts. From an interest in angling to cooking, Martial Arts, circus skills to Water activities there is a badge or 10 that you will find interesting to you. You can complete these badges outside of the normal meeting so your other clubs and interests can help you achieve Scout badges.
- Scouting Staged Badges – these are badges that can be earned in all sections and cover such areas as Swimming, hiking, camping and music.
- Scout Challenge Badges – The nine badges are: Adventure, World, Creative, Expedition, Outdoor, Personal, Skills, Team Leader and Teamwork.
- Chief Scouts Gold Award – This is the highest Award in the Scout section, it is achievable for most who join the Scouts and work hard to try new challenges. You will need to complete the nine Scout Challenge badges and six activity badges.

When you join Scouts, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things.
Scout Leaders
All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Troop week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. No matter how much time you have to spare, find out about volunteering on your own terms.
